The climate in St. Vincent & The Grenadines is tropical, a familiar fact across all Caribbean islands, and humid and hot from January through December. The weather is also distinguished by two primary seasons, a humid, hot, and, at the same time, rainy season spanning from the middle of the year through the end of it (from June to December) and a dry yet fairly cool, season from the start of the year until mid-April.

As is typical across most Caribbean regions, trade winds also affect each nation’s weather and climate. In St. Vincent & The Grenadines’ case, the intensity of the northeast trade winds is quite modest while they blow steadily and constantly during the rainy season but become more irregular and may even experience some short breaks during the dry season. This, in turn, makes the atmosphere feel a little muggy.

There is also an in-between period, from mid-April to late May, when the frequency of thunderstorms increases and the temperature rises, giving a taste of the upcoming rainy and hot season.

Temperature-wise, there are a few noticeable differences and variations in St. Vincent and The Grenadines. As seen in the table below, the mean temperature ranges between 27.8oC (82oF) in January, February, and March and 29.9oC (85.9oF) in September. In any case, the temperatures are great for outdoor activities and water sports. However, kindly note that the evenings could feel colder in the winter months, but then again, nothing that can spoil your mood or vacations.

The weather is experienced in various ways than just what the digital or mercury thermometer shows. It is also affected by humidity and winds. This is why we often feel much higher temperatures (than they are) when the humidity levels are higher. Likewise, lower temperatures make us feel much colder if there are high winds. These are the perceived temperatures.

Regarding humidity, the levels in St. Vincent and The Grenadines are above average throughout the year, with November being the most humid month (69% relative humidity) and February being the least humid month (60% relative humidity).

The hurricane season is from June to November for the entire Caribbean region. Now, depending on where each island is situated, it might be more likely to be affected by a tropical storm than another. The location also plays a role in the damage caused by a hurricane, should one hit a Caribbean island. In Saint Vincent and The Grenadines, the most likely period for a cyclone to strike the islands is between August and October. Nevertheless, there are fewer chances of a hurricane affecting the region compared to the other Caribbean islands, as it is tucked in the southernmost part of the hurricane belt.
